At the press conference on “GTCC Oktoberfest 2018” on Tuesday 25 September 2018, Dr. Roland Wein, GTCC Executive Director, welcomed Thai, German and foreign media representatives. Mr. Jan Scheer, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of the German Embassy Bangkok, kindly introduced the tradition of Oktoberfest in Germany. He also congratulated GTCC on the prominent success of GTCC Oktoberfest in German-Thai business community which is the most authentic and largest Oktoberfest in Thailand.
Then, Dr. Roland Wein shared with them GTCC success stories and highlights of GTCC Oktoberfest in the lively Bavarian ambiance.
“It is our great pleasure to organise the 38th GTCC Oktoberfest in Thailand, which serves as a unique cultural networking platform for the German-Thai business community.
Our chamber introduced the Oktoberfest for the first time in Bangkok in 1980. It was originally called the “Bavarian Night” and around 250 participants joined the event. The number of guests had significantly increased to 1,500 participants at our Oktoberfest last year. I can proudly say that the GTCC Oktoberfest is the largest and the most authentic Oktoberfest in Thailand. It is indeed one of our milestones over the years.
This year, our guests can be excited about traditional Oktoberfest music, which is played by an entertaining band directly imported from Germany “Anton and the Funny Guy”, a ceremonial beer barrel tapping, men and women in traditional Oktoberfest outfits, a German buffet and original Paulaner Oktoberfest beer until late in the night” said Dr. Wein.
